For more than a decade now, Bethenny Frankel has been gracing our television screens. Back in 2005, Frankel rose to fame as a finalist for the Martha Stewart version of the long-running reality competition show "The Apprentice." Since then, Frankel has been a stalwart cast member on "Real Housewives of New York City," as well as the star of her own spinoff series, host of a daytime talk show, and creator of the Skinnygirl line of cocktail drinks.
Through all of this, fans of the hard-working reality television personality have noticed some slight changes to her appearance. Most notably, eagle-eyed observers have noticed that Frankel's chin is starting to look smaller.
So what's the deal? Has Frankel been getting plastic surgery?
Recently, the RHNYC star addressed these rumors on an episode of "Watch What Happens Live." When asked about her shrinking chin, Frankel said emphatically that she hasn't undergone any recent plastic surgery.
Instead, her chin is changing shape due to Botox injections that she's been receiving because of a medical issue. According to Frankel, she suffers from a temporomandibular joint disorder that causes pain along her jaw. The Botox injections are used to dampen the receptors in this area and dull the pain.
As a side effect, Frankel's jawline started to get smaller. In fact, according to Frankel herself, she was so shaken up by the change to her appearance that she stopped receiving the Botox injections. Subsequently, the pain in her jaw has also returned.
Does this mean then that Frankel has never undergone cosmetic enhancement?
If Frankel has had more serious work done, she wouldn't be the first Real Housewife to do so. Kim Zolciak of the "Real Housewives of Atlanta" has admitted to undergoing a breast augmentation and a tummy tuck. Similarly, Jacqueline Laurita of the New Jersey spin-off has had a breast augmentation. And original “Real Housewives of Orange County” star Vicki Gunvalson has undergone a nose job and chin implant.
Has Frankel followed in their footsteps? According to Frankel herself, she has not. While she does admit to receiving Botox injections in places other than her jawline, Frankel claims to have had no other cosmetic work done. And even the Botox injections are done sporadically, whenever she feels like it, as opposed to regular maintenance.
Instead, Frankel relies on advice from her professional makeup artists and stylists in order to stay looking young and healthy. And there's no question that the 45-year-old mother looks good.
