Turns out imitation is the sincerest form of flattery after all.
According to the U.K. based cosmetic surgery group, Transform, the Kardashian trio has had a monumental and lasting impact on the cosmetic surgery market over the past five or so years. From lip injections to booty lifts, cosmetic surgeons across the globe are acutely aware of the phenomenon that many have dubbed “The Dash Effect.”
Requests for surgeries inspired by the oft-ogled sisters have spiked to ridiculous new heights, Transfom reported on its website. Just one day after 17-year-old Kylie admitted to getting lip injections, the British website saw a 700 percent increase in inquiries for the treatment overnight.
The media attention showered on the shapely Kardashian ladies isn’t just driving young women to go out and get minimally invasive procedures like lip fillers or Botox. Instead, it’s introduced a ‘go big or go home’ atmosphere, driving plastic surgery trends worldwide.
Dr. Scott Glasberg, President of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, discovered a staggering 200 percent increase for silicone-based rear-end implants between 2013 and 2014. Glasberg’s data also found that the Brazilian, a less invasive operation designed to lift the derriere, jumped 15% to more than 11,000 procedures during the same time period.
The cause?
According to Glasberg, all signs point to the Dash Effect. "Everywhere you look in the media, butts are in," he added.
Botched star, Dr. Terry Dubrow, tends to agree.
“It’s the Kardashian effect. The big butts are very ‘in’,” he said in his interview with Yahoo! Beauty.
