American Laser Gave Me A Good Deal

"ACTUALLY, THE CONSULTANT IS NICE BUT I DID NOT GET A VERY INFORMATIVE CONSULT ABOUT MY SKIN CONDITION. LUCKILY,I HAVE VIEWED YOUR WEB SITE THAT I AM SURE WHAT I NEED. ANYWAY, SHE GAVE ME A GOOD DEAL SO MY FRIEND AND I DECIDE TO TRY IT. I JUST DID MICRODERMABRASION LAST THUR WHICH IS FREE, BUT IT WAS NOT AS LONG AS THE TIME INDICATED ON YOUR WEBSITE - 30MINS. THE STAFFS ARE NICE, AND RECOMMENDED US ANOTHER SERVICE. I THINK THEY DO NEED TO DO SO, ONCE WE HAVE TRUST ON YOU WHICH IS BASED ON I DO SEE THE CHANGES OF MY SKIN, I WOULD LIKE BE THE LONG-TERM CLIENT HERE."

Horrible Experience

"Very good looking people but very pushy and they assumed I was gonna get the service no matter what. I went there because they were advertising a treatment plus the second one half the price, but turned out that the only option I had was to buy the whole package of six treatment, and they made it clear it was not possible for me to get only one. Which would have been fine if only anyone would have told me from the beginning. To make everything worse, when I went away, they called me back offering me the same service for half the price... what the heck is bargaining with the price? If you are offering a service at a certain price, that means that that's how much is worth for you. If in half an hour you can cut off half the price, you make me think that you were just trying to make more money than necessary out of me. Horrible experience, would strongly not recommend to my friends."

How Is This Even Legal?

"The office was easy to find and the waiting room was somewhat nicely, if sparsely, appointed. But, the staff was very unprofessional. There were several ladies heard laughing and joking etc out of sight and apparently not communicating with each other as I got the same question from several different staff members- all of whom were surprised to see me. Once past the reception area, the offices were sad and dirty looking. There were streaks all across the painted, chipped walls, it was simply "sketchy". The "consultant" who finally did see me about 40 minutes after my scheduled time, was clueless. After a brief review of the questionnaire I had been asked to complete, she reviewed it , noted the calculation of my Fitzpatrick skin type - then disagreed with it downgrading me by 2 grades- after decades of being graded a IV by numerous dermatologists she graded me a II- despite the fact the survey itself said otherwise. At any rate, this would be a minor issue if she herself were a medical professional giving her professional opinion, but she was an office manager. The information she provided was done simply by opening the American Laser website - and reading it to me. Worse, she was incapable of pronouncing all of the words correctly. It was all very awkward. When I asked a question, she would simply refer back to the site and reread some part of the information or description on the site- even though it had nothing to do with my question! It was clear she had no medical training or knowledge whatsoever. She was clearly quite trained in the financial aspect of things as she was eager to keep referring the financing options, pricing and scheduling. It is insulting to waste a potential client's time by scheduling them for a "consultation" to discuss treatment options and to have this function performed by an office manager and not a medical professional. I already had all the information she provided when I visited your website to make the appointment in the first place. I am sure she is a nice person and she was polite and tried to be helpful. But the fact is, she was performing a task she was not qualified to do. As a medical professional myself, I am not sure how this is even legal for diagnosis, treatment options, risks and benefits to be provided by a non-medical professional? I did not expect personal attention from such a large corporation, but did expect that it would be a well oiled machine. I expect that in order to succeed with this model , your advantage is lower prices based on volume, staffing by nurses with very few physicians, but it seems to me it would be most cost effective to have the first person a client interacts with should make them feel confident in your products and not scared that too many corners are being cut. Thank you for taking the time to review this survey and I hope it will improve the experience for those who can't afford a more professional, qualified office."
