Mesotherapy

Developed in the 1950’s by Frenchman, Dr. Michel Pistor, Mesotherapy is one of the most popular non-surgical cellulite removal treatments today.  Not only does this injection even the skin tone, but it actually affects fat deposits by breaking down the connective bonds of fat cells and naturally flushing them out of the body.  As a result, patients can reveal smoother, cellulite-free legs, hips, thighs, arms, abdominals and even the area under the chin!

The mesoderm, or the middle layer of the skin, is stimulated through injections made of vitamins, pharmaceuticals, and homeopathtic medications.  The concentration of the ingredients depends on the patient's individual case. Usually a series of 4-15 treatments is required, depending on the area being treated.

Comparisons are often made between Mesotherapy and another anti-cellulite injectable, LipoDissolve™. While the techniques are very similar, LipoDissolve™ uses a different, more concentrated solution that is not necessarily regulated in the same manner that most Mesotherapy procedures are.

What are the Side Effects of Mesotherapy?
The most common side effect after Mesotherapy is soreness, similar to a strenuous workout.  You may also develop knots in the injection area.  This is considered normal and a sign that the injections are dissolving the fat cells. 

It is very important to drink lots of water after treatment to help flush the injections and dissolved fat cells out of the system.  You will also want to eat a light meal beforehand so you can avoid any dizziness you may feel after treatment.

How Long do Mesotherapy results last?
Depending on the area being treated, you may only require 3-5 treatments.  However, some people may need as many as 15.  Once you go through the prescribed number of treatments, you can expect the results to last for at least a year.  It is very important that you keep with an active healthy lifestyle so that you can maintain your results over time.  Mesotherapy is not a weight loss treatment, it is body contouring technique.  While your body will maintain the same contour you achieved through treatments, any extra weight you gain will affect your body's overall shape.

What is the recovery time for Mesotherapy?
Some patients will rest for a day or so after treatment.  It is important to massage the treated areas to not only alleviate any soreness you may feel, but to also help disperse the injection throughout the area.

Mesotherapy injections can be uncomfortable as the injection does sting.  Your provider can use numbing injections (which are often mixed with the active ingridients) or a topical numbing cream.
