What better way to celebrate the arrival of spring but to unveil a new master sculpture in a plastic surgery clinic? Well, Beverly Hills board certified head and neck surgeon Dr. Nima Shemirani has done just that!
“Now when Dawn in robe of saffron was hastening from the streams of Oceanus, to bring light to mortals and immortals, Thetis reached the ships with the armor that the god had given her.” Homer —Iliad xix.1
And after these Erigeneia ["Early-born"] bore the star Eosphoros ("Dawn-bringer"), and the gleaming stars with which heaven is crowned. Hesiod —Theogony 378-382
The name of the sculpture is “Newly Beautiful Goddess” and fittingly depicts Eos or Dawn, the Greek goddess of the dawn. According to a report made by The Examiner, the media company network of local news, “The sculptural project was conceived over four years ago by Dr. NIma as a symbol of the deep and vital connection between medical science and artistic design that all plastic surgeons need in order to create and restore natural beauty.”
According to Greek mythology, the dawn goddess Eos was nearly invariably described with rosy fingers as well as rosy forearms as she opened the gates of heaven for the Sun to rise. Dr. Nima Shemirani just opted for Bec Doyle an extremely attractive Australian female model instead. “This contemporary interpretation has been fabricated in clay and rendered as a life size bust with sleek and sensual lines.”
Sasha Shemirani and Christopher Sabat produced “The Path to Becoming Art - Eos Rejuvenation”, which serves as a showcase for the artistic process: http://vimeo.com/89751264 Details of the event were also featured on Sky News TV: www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ldt_BlAd_A
The public unveiling and dedication took place a week ago at the Lasky Clinic in Beverly Hills and while few from the art community are paying attention, it is turning heads among the Hollywood elite numbered among the clinic’s illustrious clientele. The sculpture may be augmenting the legend, but isn’t that what Hollywood does anyway?
And who knows, maybe the sculpture will get a picture deal. And we aren’t referring to Miss Doyle either…
