Penile Implants: Fact vs Myth
Penile implants are somewhat of a hot topic on the internet—forums are abuzz with word that the surgery can enhance the cosmetic appeal and size of a man's penis. Unfortunately, most of the information available about penile implants is shoddy at best, with claims that the implants can increase penis size and girth. Penile implants are actually a medical solution. And although some argue they have sexual performance benefits, they won’t make the overall size of a man’s penis bigger. Read on to learn more about the true function of penile implants and how they work. Plus, you may stumble upon some tips for true penis enlargement.
What are Penile Implants?
Penile implants are materials that are surgically placed inside the penis in order to sustain an erection. While they’re most commonly used for erectile dysfunction, penis implants can also be a solution to Peyronie’s disease, a disorder characterized by a bent and painful penis. All penile implants require surgery and a rather slow healing process on this intimate area.
Types of Penile Implants
- Inflatable implants. Though it may sound like a gag joke, inflatable penile implants are the most popular type of implant. Two inflatable cylinders are inserted into the penis, with a reservoir in the scrotum. The cylinders can be inflated and deflated at will in order to create an erection. Some inflatable implants have a larger reservoir in the abdomen area. The great thing about inflatable implants is that they are easily controlled through the use of a handheld pump. They also have a low risk of causing internal damage since the inflations aren’t constant.
- Semi-Rigid rod implants. These penile implants are considerably lower in cost than inflatable penis implants, which makes them a viable option for many people. Rather than harnessing the power of inflation, semi-rigid rod implants use permanently stiff material implanted in the penis. The rods can be bent up or down, but the penis will always be firm. If you’re considering this type of implant, keep in mind that the constant pressure of the rod inside of the penis causes a higher risk for internal damage.
Penis Enlargement Treatments
Penile implants are a surgical solution to erectile dysfunction and other medical conditions that affect the penis. They are not an option for someone who is unhappy with his penis size. Moreover, penile implants don’t necessarily create a larger, wider, or longer penis.
Penis enlargement surgery can be broken down into two more specific procedures. Penis lengthening increases the length of the penis by about 1-2 inches by pulling the part of the penis that is inside of the body toward the outside. The result is a more projective penis that’s still 100% natural. Penis widening can be achieved through using human donor skin grafts or your own fat injections. Both penis lengthening and penis widening are safe and permanent procedures designed to enhance the cosmetic look of the penis and sexual satisfaction for both partners.
