Organic Plastic Surgery?

When people think "organic", recycling or food may come to mind but a new organic trend is becoming increasingly popular in Central Texas, "organic" plastic surgery.

In a recent report with Texas news affiliate KXAN, Dr. Mahlon Kerr, plastic surgeon with Synergy Plastic Surgery, explained the new method. According to Dr. Kerr, "Organic plastic surgery is the idea of using your own body to meet your plastic surgery needs." Taking the organ organic approach quite literally, Dr. Kerr offers procedures that allow patients to use their own unnecessary fat from unwanted parts of the body and transfer them to area you do want.

Rather rely on synthetic or bovine injections; Dr. Kerr assures patients that the removed fat from their bodies can be transferred to a variety of areas commonly associated with augmentation. These areas include the breasts, buttocks, and face. Dr. Kerr even has transferred fat to the hands to provide his patients with more youthful looking and less veiny fingers. "The fat really allows you to rejuvenate those areas so in the face we look at cheeks, into the folds where people traditionally get fillers or artificial substance".

The process of "organic plastic surgery" starts out very similar to liposuction. The surgery is minimally invasive with very small incisions on the body. The fat is harvested, separated from any unnecessary liquids and then re-injected into the trouble spots on the body requiring extra volume.

The cosmetic trend is quickly catching on and both surgeons and patients confirm this is a viable option because they use body tissue rather than artificial substances.
