New Vaser LipoSelection System Introduced

VASER LipoSelection, or Vaser Lipo, has been a favored liposuction technique and effective body contouring treatment for many years. Now, Vaser Lipo's been re-launched with some advanced new features, and seems to be designed with the multi-tasking patient in mind. Read on to learn how the new Vaser Lipo has been improved, yet how it's also remained reliably the same.

Does New Mean Better for Vaser Lipo?

According to Dr. Mark Schafer, Chief Technology Officer for Sound Surgical Technologies (Vaser Lipo manufacturer), the answer is "yes". In a Sound Surgical press release about the new Vaser, Dr. Schafer stated the new Vaser Lipo system has been "further streamlined" and "refined" in comparison to the original.

More specifically, Schafer claimed the newer Vaser Lipo technology is "ideal for fat transfer procedures". Fat transfers have become quite desirable for liposuction patients who want simultaneous augmentation treatments. Allegedly, the re-launched Vaser Lipo has been properly "optimized for harvesting fat," and is now able to re-use liposuction fat for simultaneous augmentation via fat injections.

Once liposuction has removed a patient's excess lower body fat, fat transfers utilize this same tissue to naturally enhance aging facial skin, and/or to augment the lips, breasts or buttocks.

The containment and near-simultaneous processing of liposuctioned fat is a newer, useful feature for modern-day lipo systems like Vaser and Body-Jet; it allows patients to slim their thighs/hips/waist and enhance their buttocks/face/breasts in the same visit!

Additionally, the new Vaser Lipo system may produce a greater rate of skin retraction (skin's level of resiliency post fat loss) for patients compared to other liposuction methods. According to a multi-center clinical study cited in the Vaser press release, the new Vaser system "demonstrated 53% improvement in skin retraction relative to standard liposuction".

Why Vaser Lipo Remains a Top Liposuction Choice

Compared to traditional suction-assisted liposuction and power-assisted liposuction, Vaser Liposelection, or ultrasound-assisted liposuction, is purported to be gentler, less invasive, and very effective.

Rather than using suction to remove unwanted fat deposits, which can cause severe bruising and tissue trauma, Vaser Lipo uses ultrasound waves to subtly break up and emulsify unwanted fat cells prior to suctioning them out. Dr. Constantino Mendieta, a Miami plastic surgeon, said of LipoSelection, "Everything about VASER technology, from the non-cutting cannula to the energy delivery, promotes a gentler procedure, which in turn boosts fat viability".

Since Vaser Lipo was first introduced in the late 90s, newer body contouring innovations like laser liposuction (SmartLipo), cryolipolysis (Zeltiq) and laser body sculpting (Zerona) have emerged. But Vaser Lipo has remained a steadfast, frequently used option for both female and male liposuction patients today.
