Mary-Kate Olsen Plastic Surgery Rumors

Mary-Kate Olsen is just 30, but she’s been famous a long time. She and twin sister Ashley became stars as babies in the 1980s on the series Full House, and continued acting into their teens. They have since switched their focus to fashion design, to great success. These days, neither one appears in public that often. Recent sightings of Mary-Kate have given rise to plastic surgery rumors. One thing’s for sure – no one will mistake one twin for the other anymore. That’s led to another spate of rumors, that Mary-Kate underwent plastic surgery to distinguish herself from her sister once and for all.

Plastic Surgery or Nicotine

It’s important to note that Olsen’s changed appearance doesn’t necessarily make her look younger, which is often the point. One plastic surgeon – who did not treat Olsen – told a reporter that Olsen’s new look may result from smoking. The former actress is a known nicotine aficionado. This surgeon notes that Olsen’s dropped eyebrow, eye area and mouth are typically found in relatively young people who smoke.

Other surgeons believe Olsen may have had a nose job, making her nose more aquiline than it was in earlier years. One surgeon suggested Olsen may have had a facelift, but that seems unlikely at such a young age. A fact: Olsen is rarely seen smiling in recent photos, while she was frequently photographed smiling in her younger years. However, attributing her lack of smiling to a facelift is kind of a stretch.

Social Media Reaction

Fans on social media were aghast at Olsen’s appearance, and many of them blamed it on “too much Botox” or “bad plastic surgery.” Olsen isn’t commenting, but the surgeon who thinks smoking is behind her look may be on the right track. Not only does Olsen not look younger, she doesn’t appear particularly healthy for such a young woman. She looks tired and worn. In an interview with The Edit, Olsen says she works hard, has a husband and two step-children, “goes home and cooks dinner” and rides her horses on the weekends. A hectic schedule can certainly affect a woman’s appearance, but such a schedule combined with smoking can ruin looks.

The Olsen twins are anomalies these days in that they don’t connect with fans via social media. Both say they spend most of their days working hard on their clothing lines. Let the speculation go on – it’s doubtful Mary-Kate Olsen is ever going to set the record straight, and that’s her right. Let’s just hope she quits the cigarettes.
