Did she or didn’t she? Singer Katy Perry, 33, addresses rumors she’s had plastic surgery in a recent interview, and she gives a resounding “No.” She does ‘fess up to using fillers and having laser work done, but she says she’s never gone under the knife. The filler injections were specifically to address hollows and dark circles under her eyes, according to Perry.
Not that she has anything against those who do take the plastic surgery route. Perry says the culture is changing, and people are more accepting of what others decide to do with their own bodies. If physical alterations such as a nose job enhance a person’s appearance and self-esteem, she has no issue with that. What she isn’t keen on is what she describes as the “Instagram culture,” which she describes as “the decline of civilization.” Perry admits she’s bought into that culture herself, because “likes” are currency. While she’s rather just go on living and enjoying her life, she’s guilty of buying clothes or products and striking the pose that earns that currency.
In the interview, Perry discusses her battle with acne and how Proactiv – for which she appeared in a 2010 commercial – saved her skin. Her journey sound familiar to anyone who has deal with constant breakouts. She went from facialist to facialist, trying all kinds of cures. A friend mentioned Proactiv, but Perry didn’t think it would help, but hey, she was desperate. She discovered if was the real deal and has been using the product ever since. Perry also has turned to healthy eating to keep her skin clear and her body in top shape. The combination helps her face “glow.”
Almost as well known for her constantly revolving hair styles and colors as her vocal chops, Perry currently sports a pixie, and she loves it. She says it makes her face stand out, and it makes her feel prettier.
Perry’s pushed the boundaries since the start of her career. After all, her first big hit back in 2008 was “I Kissed a Girl.” She continues to do so, with a new lip gloss collection for Covergirl, “Katy Kat Gloss.” Matte used to be her signature style, but now her collection features non-sticky shine. Colors range from bubblegum pink to blue, white, violet and brick red.
