Abigail Pendulas - the spouse of Manuel Amalilio, the alleged brains behind the Aman Futures scam, has been arrested. According to police, who made the arrest in Pampanga on May 2 (Friday), Abigail Pendulas has changed face, literally.
The Aman Futures Group (often simply referred to as Aman Futures) was an investment and privately held company based in Malaysia with branches in the Philippines. The company has recently come under fire as being allegedly the center of a pyramid scheme. The Aman Futures Group was founded by Manuel K. Amalilio, a Filipino of Malaysian descent. Aman Futures was reported as a pyramid scheme by the National Bureau of Investigation of the Philippines that hoodwinked or deceived around 15,000 people in Mindanao and the Visayas of P12 billion (an estimated US$ 295,000,000).
Police present during the arrested have commented on the radical facial chances to Abigal Pendulas. Reports indicate that Pendulas has gone under the knife for severe plastic and cosmetic surgery. Authorities say she underwent plastic surgery to evade recognition from law officials and scam victims. ANC in connection with Yahoo News reports that “Pendulas was arrested at a party venue in Dolores, San Fernando, Pampanga. Named as one of the accomplices in the scam, she has been charged for syndicated estafa. The offense is non-bailable.”
“Aside from sporting a different face, Pendulas has also been using a fake name. According to Central Luzon regional police director Chief Supt. Raul Petrasanta, she has a forged passport identifying her as ‘Aziah de Guzman.’”
Authorities from the Philippines had set a manhunt for Manuel K. Amalilio, the founder of the company (husband of Aziah de Guzman also known as Abigail Pendulas) who left the Philippines for Sabah, Malaysia. Wikipedia reports that “NBI has said that there is about 8,000 complaints filed against the company and over 100,000 Filipino families were victimized. Irate victims of Aman Futures have ransacked an office rented by the company in Pagadian City.”
In 2013, the founder of Aman Futures, Manuel K. Amalilio (husband of Aziah de Guzman also known as Abigail Pendulas), was caught in Malaysia after pleading guilty to charges of holding false travel documents.
ANC corroborates the incident: “Amalilio, a Malaysian national who is identified as the brains behind the operation, is currently detained in Malaysia. While he is wanted for syndicated estafa in the Philippines, his home country nabbed him for possessing a fake Philippine passport. Arrested in Kota Kinabalu in January 2013, Amalilio's Malaysian jail sentence will last for two years.”
